Loudonville is the biggest, little village located in the heart of Mohican Country. It is just at the edge of Mohican State Park and the adjacent State Forest. The park is comprised of 1,110 acres with 5 miles of the scenic Clear Fork Branch of the Mohican River running through it. The Mohican Memorial State Forest surrounds the park with another 4,795 acres, and offers hunting, hiking, camping, and bridle trails to the visitor.

Originating within the Village of Loudonville is the Wally Road Scenic Byway is "A Touch of the Past, Preserved for the Future." The byway is over 10 miles long and travels through 3 counties on county roads that parellel the Mohican State Scenic River. The Wally Road Scenic Byway reawakens people to remember to look at the scenic wonders that was created by the last great glacier in this river valley.

This Byway has a number of recreational facilities from camping, cabins, canoeing and motel rooms to restaurants, botanical gardens, horseback riding, and arts programs. Recently, Northern Ohio’s only zip line canopy tour was installed along the Byway. It offers the adventure of a lifetime, and one you will never forget. The 2 1/2 to 3 hour-long, (4,025 ft total length) zip line canopy tour leads adventurers through the tree tops by means of zip lines, sky bridges, and rappels connected to platforms suspended in the tree tops.

A mile south of Loudonville, along State Route 3 is the Wolf Creek/Pine Grist Mill. This mill has been restored to operating condition. The Fromme Cabin was moved to the property several years ago and is now a Welcome Center for visitors. An 1880 saw mill and 7 other historic log cabins were moved to the site for restoration. The Wolf Creek/Pine Run Grist Mill hosts several events throughout the year, including a Wine Festival, Pioneer Days, Colonial Soldiers Weekend, and an Oktoberfest.

Loudonville is the within a short drive, (In some cases a walk) of all of this activity and makes for a launching point for your stay in Mohican Country.
